The Title:

Ingredient Prep. Team Member, Level 1Ingredient Preparation Department


The Role:
Ingredient Preparation team members are responsible for effectively working with their team to follow daily work instructions. The Ingredient Prep. Department prepares ingredients for the batching department. Initially, work will consist of very specific tasks, but there is the potential to learn how to operate machinery and advance in your role. You will be de-casing, washing, prepping, and weighing raw ingredients such as parsley, dill, garlic, onions, and cucumbers. You will also feed production equipment, and participate in the end-of shift sanitation and cleaning activities. You will follow company recipes and procedures to ensure production consistency. You will follow quality and safety standards. You will also coordinate with team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient production.

What You’ll Do:

  • Help setup the Ingredient Prep. area and equipment.
  • You will inspect the raw ingredient cooler for products and lot information and move required ingredient to the prep area.
  • You will decase, open, ingredients for the washing process.
  • You will inspect, wash, and drain ingredients prior to slicing.
  • You will help weigh ingredients to ensure each batch of product contains the proper ingredients and the proper amounts.
  • You will help transfer raw materials to the staging area fo the batching process.
  • You will help move prepped ingredients to the ingredient or finished product coolers.
  • You will help with general cleanup between products and at the end of the production shift.
  • You will also help prepare for future production by opening cased products in the warehouse or in the cooler.
  • You will work with your team to ensure timely and efficient production.
  • You will learn all of the positions in the department.
  • You will learn how to properly document preparation activities.
  • You will learn and follow all food safety, employee safety, and Good Manufacturing Procedures.
  • You will be given the opportunity to become a machine operator and learn an important trade, food manufacturing.

The Qualifications:

  • You must be able to begin work between 5am and 6am Monday Through Thursday and you must be able to work up to 11 hours per day. We target 4 days and 40 hours.
  • If you would prefer to work Sunday through Wednesday, we may accommodate that.
  • You must demonstrate proper clock management and maintain strong attendance.
  • You must be able to read and follow recipes and procedures (in English or Spanish) to ensure the batches are made correctly.
  • You must maintain close concentration and visual attention to assigned tasks.
  • You must be willing and able to follow instructions.
  • You must have good verbal communication skills.
  • You must be willing and able to work efficiently and with alacrity.
  • You must have some familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and email.

  • Manage timeline expectations within and across teams, deliver on our responsibilities accordingly

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical dexterity, ability to lift up to 45 lbs and push/pull rolling bowls, carts, and containers with up to 550 lbs of product.
  • The ability to work in varied environmental conditions (dry, cold)
  • The ability to stand and work on feet for 8 to 10 hours at a time
  • Must be able to identify, assess and observe detail
  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend and twist
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
Allergens: We prepare products with milk and sesame containing ingredients. Team members must be able to work with these ingredients.
