Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated NOC Engineer / Incident Manager to join our Operations Command Centre (OCC) team. This is a hybrid role that combines hands-on incident management (50%) with engineering-focused work (50%) across observability, automation, and intelligent operational tooling. You will be responsible not only for detecting and managing production incidents, but also for building smarter solutions that reduce incident frequency, improve detection, and accelerate resolution. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the pace of real-time operations and the challenge of solving systemic problems through technology.

We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience—what matters most is strong technical capability, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly and scale your impact over time.

Responsibilities:

Incident Management & Response

  • Act as Incident Manager during major or high-severity incidents, ensuring structured and effective response.
  • Lead technical bridges, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive timely resolution.
  • Monitor production systems and proactively identify anomalies or service degradation.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders, providing timely and accurate updates throughout the incident lifecycle.
  • Own incident documentation, timelines, and post-incident reviews.

Observability, Automation & Engineering

  • Design, build, and enhance observability solutions across applications and infrastructure (e.g., dashboards, alerts, signal correlation).
  • Develop automation to reduce manual intervention, improve response times, and eliminate repetitive operational tasks.
  • Contribute to AI-driven and intelligent incident detection and response initiatives.
  • Analyse incident trends and system behaviour to identify opportunities for proactive improvements.
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement resilient, self-healing systems and better operational tooling.

Operational Excellence

  • Support the stability and availability of critical production systems such as BLAST, CashStar, and associated platforms.
  • Continuously improve incident management processes, tooling, and playbooks.
  • Contribute to a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement within the OCC.

Learning & Growth

  • Rapidly develop your technical and operational skillset through hands-on experience.
  • Learn how large-scale, high-availability systems operate in production.
  • Take increasing ownership of systems, tools, and processes as your capability grows.
  • Collaborate with engineering, platform, and network teams to deepen your expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical foundation in systems, applications, or infrastructure (e.g., distributed systems, APIs, networking fundamentals).
  • Experience in or exposure to NOC, SRE, Incident Management, or similar operational roles OR strong engineering background with interest in operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, triage, and think logically under pressure.
  • Proficiency or hands-on experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Splunk, New Relic, Grafana).
  • Basic scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively during high-pressure situations.
